Hi there!

Since 2002, I've been a natural light portrait photographer specializing in relaxed, low-key sessions to authentically capture personalities and connections in light-filled color and black & white images.  ​Based in Arlington, Virginia, I love collaborating with families, seniors, couples, and professionals in Washington DC, Virginia, and Maryland. ​​

I haven't always been a photographer.

​

After graduating from William&Mary with an accounting degree, I started my career as a CPA with Arthur Andersen and a finance manger with Accenture Consulting - very 'left brain' career choices. In 1998, after the first of our three children were born, I was inspired to incorporate a little more right brain activity into my life. With an all-manual 35mm film Pentax K-1000, a gift from my insightful mom, I immersed myself into learning how light and the art of observation could authentically capture our children's personalities in photographs. What began as a passion fueled by all of the joy, chaos, and bittersweet moments of our kids' childhood led to the creation of Donna Owens Photography.

I continue striving to create storytelling images that evoke an emotion and creatively document the beauty of a moment, but more importantly want to ensure my clients have a wonderful and memorable experience working with me.  Everyday, I focus on achieving these things in my client and personal photography.  I'm sincerely grateful for my family's and clients' support to continue doing what I love.
